Son Rise - February 2012

It's February, and as we transition from celebrating Christmas and welcoming a new year, many of us are focusing on the Lenten season.

One day in December, while searching Pandora Radio on the Internet, I came across a beautiful song I had never heard before. The title of this song caught my interest, while the lyrics brought tears to my eyes. "Where's the Line to See Jesus?" If you haven't heard it before you may want to Google it. This song sung by Steve Houpt and Becky Kelly, was inspired by a little boy named Spencer. The story is told that during the Christmas season of 2010, four-year-old Spencer and his mom were at a mall standing in line to see Santa. While standing there, Spencer asked, "Where's the Line to See Jesus? If Christmas is Jesus' birthday, why don't we see Him more?" As the holiday season continued, I found myself reflecting on the title of this song and the imagination of children, so pure and uplifting.

The lyrics of this song, "Where's the Line to See Jesus? He was born for me. Santa Claus brought me presents but Christ gave His life for me," will remain with me as I enter this Lenten season. The cold, quiet days of February offer a sense of peace and a time of reflection. Lent begins February 22nd and continues through April 15th. During this time we will see the transformation from winter to spring. Enjoy the beauty and creation, and allow yourself to clear your mind and reflect with an imagination as pure as a child's.

"Where's the Line to See Jesus?" Are you in it? Peace be with you.
