Saturday, September 11, 2010—Day on the Diaconate
The annual Day on the Diaconate will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Philips in Jackson from 9:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. This is an excellent resource for those in the very early stages of thinking about the vocational diaconate. Bishop Gray wants this to be a well-attended and exciting time of learning about the diaconate.
Many folks will be on hand to answer questions and provide materials and to talk about what the discernment process is like, what the school is like, what it's like to be a deacon, to answer your questions.
Breakfast snacks will be available upon arrival. Notify Deacon Lynne Hough at lhough@cableone.net or call 228-864-6699 and leave a message so that St. Philips will know how many lunches to plan.

Ascension Emergency
Contacts
There have been occasions where Ascension family members or caregivers could not be contacted in emergency situations; therefore, our church is preparing an emergency contact list. This information will be kept confidential and will be maintained in the church office for use if the need arises. If you wish to list your contact information, forms are available in the church narthex and also in the parish hall. Return your completed form in an envelope marked "Attention: DOK" to the In-Reach box in the office or mail to the church.
Are You Interested?
If you are interested in being a lector or chalice bearer, please email or call the church office.
Forward Day By Day
Copies of the August/September/October 2010 issue of Forward Day by Day are available in the narthex and in the parish hall.
Wishful Thinking
Remember the Wish List posted in the Parish Hall? If you don't, don't feel bad. It has been unchanged for so long that we tend to walk by it without looking at it. The Vestry has taken note of this phenomenon and is in the process of updating it. Be on the look out for new wishes... and if there's a wish you'd like included, tell a Vestry member!
Communion for the Homebound
Trained Lay Ministers are available to bring communion to those who are homebound and cannot come to church. Call the church office if this ministry is needed by someone you know.
