Welcome to the first edition of the Son Rise in 2011! The refurbishment of the parish hall has given us a sense of newness and pride as we gear up for a successful year at Ascension. Our first important meeting of the new year is the annual business meeting scheduled for January 16, 2011. This is the time we reflect on what we have accomplished, what we could do better, and our plans for 2011. An overview of the financial status of the church for 2010 will be presented as well as the 2011 budget. We will also receive reports from our Rector (Susan B.), our Senior Warden (Ken C.) and our Junior Warden (Glenn H.). Another very important item on the agenda will be the election of Vestry members. There will be four members rotating off the Vestry this year. These four stewards have faithfully served our Vestry and church for three years with diligence, talent and patience. Please take a moment to thank Patty B., Vance D., Linda S., and Rosalie Z. To fill these vacancies, the members of the nomination committee will be presenting a ballot consisting of the following names: Pam C., Jeannene G., Barbara H., Tom P. and Ellen S.. The floor will be open for nomination which will give you the opportunity to nominate someone. Be sure to obtain the person's permission prior to nominating. The annual business meeting is the ideal time for members to get a better knowledge base of the inner workings of the church. Please feel free to ask questions and participate in a very important part of what it takes to keep our church running smoothly. Remember that it will take all of us working together to make 2011 successful for Ascension and for the workings of our Lord. Laurie R. |
