Wow! The weekend of January 14-16 was a busy one at Ascension with gumbo cooking on Friday and selling on Saturday then on to the annual meeting on Sunday. Friday night cooking was FUN. We had many hands doing different jobs from labeling containers, slicing sausage and stirring pots full of great smelling ingredients. The task of getting the gumbo into containers started early Saturday morning and we were ready for customers around 9:30, closing shop at 2:00 PM. The annual meeting brought good food, written committee reports, and presentations from our rector and Junior and Senior Wardens. The financial report gave an overview of the 2010 finances and the budget for 2011. The written reports from committees are still available in the office. The newly elected Vestry members are Pam, Barbara, Jeannene, and Tom. As we go marching into 2011, we pray for God’s guidance. May the love that defines us at Ascension continue to shine brightly as we reach out to each other and to the community. In peace, |
