I am pleased to announce that SURE FOUNDATION - MISSISSIPPI is coming to Ascension August 26th and 27th. We will be joined by two other churches from the coast. SURE FOUNDATION - MISSISSIPPI is a joint ministry of the American Anglican Council and ACTS 29 Ministry.
Last year we hosted two events with the Rev. Alan Hansen. At the first event, members of other Episcopal churches around the diocese came to hear Alan's story and the story of significant church growth experienced in places that have implemented the SURE FOUNDATION model. The aim of SURE FOUNDATION is "the training and equipping of congregations to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelism and discipleship." It does this by "implementing a regimen of training for clergy and congregational leaders giving them the skills, tools, and materials necessary to realize the vision."
The core beliefs of SURE FOUNDATION include Jesus is the Head of the Church, there is only one foundation that can be laid - Jesus Christ, the Word of God must be accompanied by the Works of God, not all churches have to be big to be healthy, and God works primarily through people.
The core values include Holy Scripture, the Great Commission to make disciples, the power of the Holy Spirit, the Sacraments of the Church, the ministry and mission of the laity, the centrality of prayer, and the ministry of healing.
SURE FOUNDATION is an eighteen month program and it is open to all. I hope you will consider being a part of it.
