Resolution - Amy D.

October, it seems, is the gateway to the important times of the year: Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's the month in which we begin to plan our holidays – time to begin gift-shopping, time to begin menu-planning, time to arrange visits with family and friends, and time to maybe redecorate or remodel before everyone shows up for celebration! It's not time yet to think about New Year's resolutions...at least not seriously.

At Ascension, October isn't much different. During our Fall Stewardship Campaign, we plan for many of the same things: giving, fellowship, and our facilities, in addition to worship, education, and service. Even though it's not technically a new year, we do look forward to 2012, and we use the month of October to make our New Year’s stewardship resolutions.

As members of Ascension, we are all stewards: we all are charged with the task of keeping our church in order; we are all accountable for the affairs of the church; we are all called to look after the comfort of others; and we are all responsible for providing the money, time, and talent that meet the needs of our church community.

During October, stewardship will be represented in many ways. We will look at being stewards of our facilities, stewards of education, stewards of worship, stewards of fellowship, and stewards of service. As we move through this month, we trust that you will sincerely consider your goals for Ascension and the role that you play in making those goals a reality. We hope that you will talk to other members and ask questions about opportunities for sharing your time and talent, and then carefully create your New Year’s resolutions as stewards of Ascension.
