It's Gumbo Time at the Church of the Ascension! Members of Church of the Ascension have prepared gumbo prior to Thanksgiving for several years to allow our special gumbo to be enjoyed during holiday meals. A gathering of friends and the Cajun trinity of vegetables, including okra, are scheduled to prepare another batch of Church of the Ascension Gumbo. The tradition of Church of the Ascension Gumbo began with a single pot, made to raise money to support a Church of the Ascension's EYC Outreach mission trip to another state. Profit from the gumbo has become an important part of the funding for the Church of the Ascension, including Outreach. Your help is needed to prepare, stir, and clean-up on Friday evening, November 11th, and to pour gumbo into containers and sell gumbo the next morning, Saturday, November 12th. We will meet at the Gray House Friday evening at approximately 3:00 pm, to prepare gumbo. We will meet again Saturday morning, November 12th, beginning 8:00 am to pour into containers and distribute. Please plan on helping making gumbo on Friday evening and/or help package and sell on Saturday morning. Please remember to tell your friends and family about Church of the Ascension Gumbo, and encourage them to stop by Saturday, November 12 from 10:00-2:00.
